MCFA has signed a new agreement with Ener-G-Africa Zambia Limited, part of the
Bridge Carbon Group, registered in Zambia in 2024. Ener-G-Africa has been manufacturing and selling clean cooking and renewable energy products across Sub-Saharan Africa since 2017.

MCFA is supporting Ener-G-Africa’s market entry to Zambia. With EUR 2 million in MCFA funding, the company plans to establish pellet production facilities in Lusaka, using agricultural waste products, which are otherwise normally burnt. The roll-out plan also includes opening 40 retail stores that will sell stoves and pellets to customers alongside other clean energy products and act as learning centres for product demonstrations and training.

“This partnership with Nefco and MCFA marks a major step forward for Ener-G-Africa Zambia’s operations and growth path. The company will not only manufacture high-quality stoves locally but also establish a sustainable biomass fuel supply chain and retail network to ensure long-term access and affordability. It’s about creating new jobs and proving that clean energy solutions can be made in Africa, by Africans, for Africa,” comments Andre Moolman, Director at Ener-G-Africa Zambia.

With the MCFA support, the overall aim is to establish up to 40,000 clean cooking services until end of 2029. The clean cooking services will be provided through sales of single- and double -burner top-lit micro-gasification stoves. Both stove options come with a 10,000 mAh power bank and a 20 Wp solar panel. The double-burner stove is also available with combustion chambers, powered from a single panel and battery, giving households the option of cooking multiple dishes at once.

The Modern Cooking Facility for Africa (MCFA) supports access to and scale-up of higher-tier clean cooking solutions. Ener-G-Africa Zambia was shortlisted under the second funding round (MCFA2) of the Zambian country programme. The selection process included third-party evaluations of the final applications by independent experts and a detailed due diligence process carried out by Danish Energy Management in consortium with LFS Advisory.
